I'm so sorry......

To all those people that visited my site and was waiting for more content, but was met with nothing.  I'm so sorry for disappearing on you for so long. If you're looking for food content please follow me on instagram @citynitz and @city_niche.

I had to take care of some things and if I could rewind the clock I don't think I would have started a blog years ago.  You see back then I was this insecure girl trying to find my way living alone in Los Angeles.  So many things have changed since then and I wouldn't recognize the girl I used to be staring back at me. I cherish the good, bad, ugly and all of it though because it's made me the woman I am today.

You know that scene in Little Mermaid where she gives up her voice to become human?  In some ways I view my younger years as a time where my voice was trapped in that shell around Ursula's neck.  Only just now that shell has been yanked by Scuttle and the shell has shattered releasing my voice back to me. 

So what you'll find here is my honest true voice.  No filters, no edits, but true honest me.  Scary right?  Yes, in a world that only highlights the good in your life, but leaves out half the story that no one knows (i.e Facebook/Instagram).  This will be all of me because I'm not scared anymore, I'm not trying to win a popularity contest and quite frankly for the first time in my life I'm free from honestly giving a fuck about judgement, hate and negativity.   

I hope to share with you the past along with the knowledge, life lessons and stories to inspire you to live your best life.  So if you're brave enough, come take a real look behind the girl of Citynitz. 

I hope you find the information insightful, motivating and realize at the end of the day everyone is just trying to figure out this thing called life.

I've been given the nickname "grandma" many a times for my odd habit of drinking hot water by itself in my office (something that has stuck since winter time), slow driving, or my "early" bed time of 11pm or midnight compared to other friends. Alas, when I heard from Christine of Choisauce about Tomato Pie and their famous Grandma pizza that had ranked 7th of the top 25 pizzas in the US by GQ magazine, I couldn't resist, but to go check it out. We started off with the Breakfast Pizza which consisted of tomato, bacon, and spinach atop an egg and olive oil base. According to the owner, Garrett, the egg was beat and then poured over the pizza before baking it, really allowing it to integrate with the cheese and rest of toppings. Izakaya Bincho: A true "Diamond in the Rough"

So my first food review is not going to be the LA restaurant with the most Michelin stars, most popular and certainly not most expensive. Instead it'll be on this little hole in the wall Japanese restaurant that was one stop of many on our crawl led by Kung Food Panda . Located on the Redondo Beach Pier "boardwalk" section s urrounded by bars and other restaurants, this little spot is very easy to miss and I hadn't even noticed it coming here a few weeks before. Walking up to the entrance of this place, I wasn' t expecting much considering it didn't even have a sign or any patrons on a Saturday evening. Exterior Once everyone in our party had arrived, we were quickly seated and given our menus by the only waitress that seemed to work there. An Innovation that is Pure Genius!

On a recent trip down to OC, I couldn't help but stop by the Kyusyu & Okinawa Fair that was taking place at the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Costa Mesa. From what I hear the Torrence location had much more food, including the special "Tonkotsu Ramen," which the Costa Mesa location did not. Either way, there were still many food stands inside the marketplace. I wanted to come to Mitsuwa for primarily one reason and that was for the "Pie Fresh Custard Pudding on Choux". A custard cream puff sandwiching a nice sized piece of pudding. So good, I wish I had bought more boxes. First stand that we see when we walk in! Workers hard at work Two puffs for $5, what a deal! Such a beautiful sight <3 Nom, Nom, Nom...... Other stands that sold other items such as an assortment of sushi and fish cakes What would I do without you Mitsuwa, love this place.
